Ive owned and driven many high po cars. This one is special in many ways. Critics complain of break fade. Ive not experienced any even though pushing the car hard. Turn in is excellent mid corner and exit excellent, yes bumps can upset solid axel but its predictable and controllable. Even irs cars can be upset with bumps. Ford chose gearing it high for a good reason. People always look at 0-60, 1/4 mile, and top end. Ford made first gear tall so they did not have to shift going to 2nd. Saves time get excellent time. Same with 1/4 mile. And 200mph top end with 3:31 gear. Then there is better gas milage no gas gusler tax all good marketing for ford.a lower gear would be a plus.

My 1st new car was a 69 Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet. My Shelby brings back those memories like it was yesterday. The only difference is this car is faster and corners better. Its even more fun to drive. Its so much easier to get more horsepower out of this supercharged motor than it was in the old days. I had to put a high lift cam, add headers and a 750 Holly carb to run high 12s in the quarter. All Ive done to this car is add a Steeda 2.7 pulley, a cold air induction kit and a custom SCT tune. All of a sudden mid 11s. RWH at 548 and torque at 505. Im told flywheel H.P should be somewhere around 630 and torque 590. These bolt on adds took about 4 hours to do. What a difference!

This is the car that only Ford and Carroll Shelby could build. It has the head turning good looks from the mid sixties Shelbys and the refinements of todays suspension and safety features all rolled into a package that is amazing!

Previosly owned 6-7 Vettes (73-95), plus early 70s Formula Firebirds and late 70s Trans Ams. While powerful, only the 73 Corvette 454 big block matched up w/ the Shelby GT 500. Both are breathtaking. The Shelby far outclasses the early-mid 90s Vettes. I traded a 2007 GT/CS for the Shelby. The GTs straight-line performance pales against all of the aforementioned muscle cars. Groused about paying the $10K over sticker premium, but now have zero regrets about price. The Shelby GT 500 is a legitimate $60K ride that is docile until you light the fuse. This is quite simply the best car Ive ever owned. If you want your heart to pound the way it did at 21, this is the ticket.

I have always been a GM person (1967 SS Chevelle in the 60s) I drove this Shelby and wow. Since purchase I have spent less than 3K and got Ford Racing Axel Back exhaust, Ford Racing cold air kit and ford racing retune and then regeared the back end to 3:73. it has hp of Kr now. The only drawback is the good year supercar tires. They do not last and I get wheel hop on hard acceleration especially with TC turned off. I guess when tires need replacing I will go with something better. Still the best bang for buck. And upgrades done at SVT dealer keeps everything under Ford Warranty.

  • Nice Car... Bad Price... - 2007 Ford Shelby GT500

I paid quite a bit over sticker for this baby... nice car, but for the price, well... Theres nothing wrong with the car itself. Its a great car, just pricey. It drives nicely, a bit front-heavy, but its straight-line performance is amazing.

Never liked any mustangs. Was always a classic GM muscle car guy. This car has something that most others do not a serious personality. Steering feel is awesome and power is incredible. I have had the privledge of owning many many cars and this is a great car. It will sprint all day and not get tired. Only thing it could use is a louder exhaust and a much better set of tires. I hope to enjoy this car for many years. Kudos to Ford and Shelby for getting this done right. FYI Dont pay sticker price or anywhere near it I didnt and there is no need to just do reseach.

  • Cant get any better! - 2008 Ford Shelby GT500

Heard all about the great reviews for the Mustang. Got a chance to get the Shelby, and it speaks volumes for American car manufacturers. I have, over the past two years freed myself of all import cars and now own all American. The Shelby is FUN! A definite blast to the past when we adored American metal!

The convertible is Vista Blue and the paint is excellent. The interior is simple w/o a lot of electronic junk. Everything dash/radio etc is basic and functions well. The top operation is smooth and is real cloth. Performance is what youd expect from a 500hp car. After a couple of hundred miles, the avg mpg is a bit over 22 but that includes hiway. Interior road noise is at a minimum, even with (aftermarket) dual 2 chamber Flowmasters. (Car sound like a monster V8) The Cobra is a beautiful, responsive machine and worth the money. One of a kind.
